Dear Paul,
Surfing on the web I found your website and was just happy to
see how Brock James is well appreciated.
here : http://www.oldcollegiansrugby.org.au/history/gallery/brockjames.shtml
Do you know that Brock has just got the new record for consecutive successful
kicks ? he got 39 with not a single missed !!! and not yet finished the
series.
He is currently the top scorer in the French championship, far away from the
2nd. Just yesterday, he kicked 10 times from various positions, left, right,
far, close and always the same result : 3 or 2 more points have a look on 3
of them.
When we talk about Brock and ASMCA rugby team we say that ASM is "Brock
Dependance" which we can translate by "Brock addicted".
I would just say to Australia, that Brock James is the best
gift they gave to France ;-)
One million thanks for that !
Best regards from France

Hi,
I think we're as appreciative of Brock as you are. It's great
to hear that you all think so highly of him and that France seems to be good
for him. There are also some videos on our website of Brock & of ASM
(http://www.oldcollegiansrugby.org.au/videos/oc-videos.shtml).
We're impressed he (seems to) speak good French.
If you're ever in Adelaide, look us up.
Regards,
Paul Horne

Hi Paul,
Just a follow up note re our proposed 69er reunion.
We will all be staying at the Hilton and attending the (assuming there is
one) match at Tregenza on Saturday April 25th, with, of course the mandatory
post match swilling .
If any of the really old Old Colls would like to revisit past debauchery
in the name of reminiscence we would be excited to catch up.
Perhaps you would like to let the people know that Dirikis, Booth, Goodwin,
Whelpton, Chalmers and Quodling will be available at this date?
Names such as Burgess, Allen and Wilson come readily to mind.

Hi All,
Sorry for the late response, Margo & I will also be staying at the
Hilton, we will be arriving mid afternoon Friday, returning late afternoon
Sunday.
Choice of restaurant, Hilton sounds great, I haven’t been there but my
Adelaide clients use the Hilton to accommodate their visitors & have
confirmed the private room should be considered.
Leave the rest of the planning to the locals.
Look forward to catching up.
How about circulating mobile phone numbers for contact purposes, mine is
below.

Thanks Paul --it does not sound too good. We based our dates
for Adelaide around watching a game and catching up with old OC mates in the
Clubhouse!!

The first few draft draws certainly had April 25 as our first
game of 09.
I heard a rumour to the effect that the season might be starting a week
earlier instead and skipping ANZAC day, but it was just a rumour. We shall
have to cross our fingers.
In the potential absence of an actual game, I could offer any visiting ex-OCs
a free shot at Cranna instead if that helps?
I'll even get him to hold a ball so it feels official...

Oh dear! Oh dear! Significant Dates!
I recall playing for SA against Vic on Anzac Day '63. Has the National
conscience moved to reverence rather than celebration? And what about the
Evans brothers Crucifixion kegs on Good Friday? Probably gone the way of the
Botanic Hotel! Bloody younger generation! Etc. etc.
For those of you not in the know, Cranna is an ex prop of Scottish
extraction, therefore more to be pitied than censured, who will. I'm sure, be
prepared to join any celebration involving the amber stuff!
Anyways, thanks Kim for your response (and won't my fellow reunioners be
shocked to find you to be the first female president of Old Cols?)
We wait with crossed breath and baited fingers

PS Nicci's second child has not yet made the scheduled kickoff ......yet!

Made contact with Ted early in January trying to find out the 2009 season
start date and hoping to catch up with him/them sometime during our visit.

Thanks Kim,
I did ring the SARU and was told that the season would be
announced on 1st March with start probably on 18th April in lieu of 25th but
even that was not confirmed.
They blamed the confusion on the Clubs.

Hi Paul
Another lightning fast 3/4 has arrived on the scene. Oscar Jameson Lynch
arrived at 8.30 am 20/02/09. Weighing in at 8lb 8oz, Oscar is the second son
of Tony and Nicole Lynch and apart from being exceptionally handsome has
inherited the obvious Rugby talents of his Grandpo, David.

Subject: BOXHILL REVISIT
Paul,
My name is Rodney Sullivan I have organised rugby games for the over 40's
in Dimboola for many years, playing against a team from Boxhill called The
Unquenchables. I would like to get in contact with Hamish Cranna .
Please ask him to phone around some of the boys who came on tour with us to
Dimboola a few years ago and to find out if they would like to go to Boxhill
(play or watch - ONLY the old buggers who came along last time)
I must get Trevor 'Turbo' Kenny to go to come along just for him to do Eskimo
Nell .
It's their club's 50th anniversary (we will be looked after).
We fly to Melbourne Thursday morning the 1st of October , Game on the
Saturday, returning home on Monday the 5th.
Many thanks
Rod

I will try to get a photo or two of Hamish from one of our trips to
Dimboola some eight -ten years ago. He was fined at a Kangaroo Court for
spilling beer. NOT ON.
For his punishment, we bandaged him around his head, mouth and nose
preventing him from smoking or drinking on the way back to Adelaide.
It all started from a drinking completion, in one of the hotels In Dimboola.
(not pints but jugs). Yes Hamish won, but won UNFAIRLY, he just tipped
the whole jug over his head and said, I WIN.

Sounds like Hamish. He just returned my call so I gave him your number.
He mentioned some small matter of being banned or something but I'm sure
you'll get by that one.
