know where PETER (JESSE) JAMES is now? THE FLYING SCOTSMAN Last year several OCRFC people joined us for a day trip on the Bi~centennial train, the NSW Pacific Class 3801, when it visited SA. At that time 1 was told there was a good chance the Scotsman' would visit SA this year to do a similar trip. 'Steamranger' has now advised me that arrangements to bring this world famous engine to Adelaide are complete and the trip will be held on Sunday 30th April. The cost is $41 per adult, $26 per child; details of time etc., to follow. A number of club members expressed an interest in joining the excursion so I have made a provisional booking for 40 seats. If you are interested in coming along please telephone me at 79 6253. In order to secure the group booking I will need the money by 31st March ? make cheques payable to Steamranger and forward to me at 11 McAllan Avenue, Beaumont,5066. Hollie Kershaw. CRIPPLED.CROWS TOUR TO TORONTO GOLDEN OLDIES FESTIVAL Leaving on Tuesday 12th September, with a two-day stopover in Honolulu, this looks like being another epic adventure. The flight goes through to London or Europe with two stops on the outward and return journeys, i.e. you can break your journey 5 times. If you are, look or feel over 40, or just want to come as a supporter at a very reasonable cost, contact Hugo Klynsmith on 79 7077 (home number). AROUND AND ABOUT Sunday 12th saw a very successful Working Bee at the Club, followed by an equally successful BBQ. Thanks to the ladies, cricketers and rugby players who turned up. Chas Norman, Skipper of our last A Grade Grand Final winners, dropped in en route for Mt. Gambier and did a quick quality control check in the bar and hopes to drop in occasionally. Last Friday the Rugby table at the Cricketers' Quiz came in a gallant third (last)"~ but managed to secure several bottles of wine in the Tops & rails and Sundry competitions. Hamish did a passable impression of Stan Laurel, and Question Master, John Turner refused to believe a dong was a unit of Swiss currency (12 dongs = 1 cuckoo clock). Saturday saw Rod Essery celebrating his 2nd 49th, and guests included Hartley Brimelow, a former Club President who turns in April. THANK YOU ... Cyril Campion and Tony Matthews for your donations. BELIEVE IT OR NOT ... Tim Naylor is engaged ? to Robyn: Congratulations. CONGRATULATIONS ... To Kate Perkins on her Advance Australia Award for burnscar management. Tregenza Times 26th January 1989:Many thanks to that conscientious person who cleared up after the Cricket B.B.Q. last Saturday - well done. LOST: One scrum machine and several practice balls - please return to
the President. |
