| On May 13, ten
beautiful contestants stepped up on stage in our Ms College 2000 drag
queen beauty pageant. Enormous praise goes to each of them, if for
no reason other than the balls they showed (mostly figuratively,
occasionally literally) by getting up on stage. |
Dan Pryor:
Why does Dan look so
comfortable in a suspender belt? The Calcutta established the favourite as Dan Pryor, but at the end of the night our
panel of judges (Richard Waddicor, Sara Lasscock and Andy Apted) gave the title of Ms
College 2000 to stewie Douglas, with his runners up being Andy McDougall and Rob
Love. We note in passing that all three are (sometime) wingers - and refrain to
comment any further. |

Eight of our Under-16 boys represented the State in the
carnival on the 22nd and 23rd of April. We played against Illawarra (2 teams) and
Victoria (2 teams) both of whom were very strong with a large proportion of big, strong,
fast Fijians and Samoans. We played well and scored points. We on one game
against Illawarra 19 to 12 (Joyce kicks herself for missing that one) but lost earlier
against Victoria (Vic 27, Sa 12) and Illawarra (Ill 29, Sa 12).
Our boys were: Graham Campbell, Richard de Gioia, Will Morgan, Brad
Newman, Tom Parsons, Chris Schmidt, Charlie Sheppeard and Dan Tootell
Lovely weather and a good representation by OC supporters. Our
thanks to those who billeted the visitors.

Calum Mackie
Calum Mackie is enjoying his time in London, as we would expect of course, having been
spotted at Rolf Harris' 70th birthday party. To some this is a source of amusement. To
others, surprise ... that Rolf is 70 years old.
From Kim Evans, and more of Calum Mackie: "As for scandal, on recalling the details
of my converstaion with Mr Mackie (Senior) I recall that he mentioned that Calum was sent
off the pitch in Birmingham for roughing up another player and making him weep. When Calum
suggested that crying was not something men do, and particularly not while on
t'pitch, he
was told "Shut up, you mad Aussie bastard". The moral of the story is
uncomplicated - Englishmen are soft."

6th June 2000
Congratulations to Bec Manson who won the sponsorship raffle from "Ms College 2000". Bec will receive two bottles of wine, a wine cooler and a mystery meal. As if the boys need anymore encouragement from the spectators, but it was shouted and whispered from all corners how well they all did on the weekend. To quote a master (only they will know who I mean) "Call this one a dress rehearsal". Bad luck, weather or whatever meant we went down by five to Burnside’s first grade men, but the rain didn’t hold back our womens' team who had another win for the season ! Sorry about the cancellation of "Gentleman's Day" - numbers just weren’t cutting it. The committee has decided to look upon this as a new stage in club morale (Cranna would be disappointed) and congratulate those of you who won't be attending !! As per usual a group of healthy young folk did their part for the club on Saturday night.

Let’s just say we left on time. It’s hard to choose what I can and can’t say but all photographs are available for viewing in the club photo album and copies can by arranged through Kath. Congratulations to Curtis who just barely survived another club night. Speaking of club nights, the big one is here again. That’s right, the Tenth Annual Friends of Rugby Ball. As per the standard of social functions this season, it’s going to be HUGE! Just in case you are completely blind and don’t see the posters plastered around the club, or you have been neglecting your duties as a club member and not visiting the club lately, all the details will be included next time. Keep Saturday August 5th Free ! "Till next time, P.S. Do all college cup winners receive two free girls ??
